The ordinary skincare: 5 of the ordinary’s best-selling products.

photo from

Ever heard of The Ordinary? It’s a cruelty-free skincare brand that flies off shelves and online stores and no, we’re not exaggerating. The majority of skincare addicts have at least one product by The Ordinary on their bathroom shelf. Kim Kardashian swears by the Granactive Retinoid Emulsion 2%, as part of her anti-ageing skincare routine. You can usually source a bottle (only 1 per customer!) of their best-selling “buffet” serum online.

As I was endlessly curious about the products other people’s favourites from The Ordinary’s catalogue of products.

Here’s the top 5 products you should definitely be adding their products to your beauty regime:

There’s a product for every skin concern. This formula targets multiple signs of aging at once. With a multitude of actives listed amongst the ingredient list, the “Buffet” offers a combination of the technologies used by high-end brands. Filled with Matrixyl 3000, it works hard to repair every cell, as well as moisture magnet hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

Hyaluronic acid offers multi-depth hydration and plumps the skin like no other. The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid serum is the cheapest I’ve found. Apply to entire face morning and evening before heavier creams.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% keeps selling out as everyone with spot prone skin is amazed with its ability to normalise pores and control excess oil production. This serum is suitable for acne-prone skin as it reduces the appearance of blemishes. Apply a few drops to your face AM and PM before applying your creams. It is advised to be used in combination with additional acne treatments if desired, for visible skin benefits.

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

Rose hip oil is both cold-pressed and organic and is rich in linoleic acid, linolenic acid and pro-vitamin A. It deeply nourishes the skin and reduces signs of photo-aging and many other skin conditions.

Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG

This light-textured formula contains an extremely high 5% concentration of caffeine, that wakes up tired skin and reduces under-eye puffiness and dark circles.

It is also supplied in UV-protective packaging, as EGCG is sensitive to light. Massage a small amount onto the eye contour AM and PM.

If you haven’t yet laid your hands on any of the products, I can guarantee you will be amazed with the results. Cheap doesn’t necessarily mean second rate.

First look & impressions at Isabel Marant’s L’oréal Paris Makeup Collaboration

photo from

I’ve been waiting for the L’oréal x Isabel Marant makeup collection for several months. The famed French designer announced that the collection includes chic day-to-night makeup essentials. It consists of 5 products, based on the basic needs of a French woman.  If you are planning to shop online, you can find the whole collection exclusively onto

I’ve already a sneak peek at the collection, I’m not going to lie. It’s exactly as glamorous as I had hoped. Housed in stylish black packaging, the fashionable makeup line combines Isabel’s trademark style with French sophistication.

Color Riche Lipstick

If you’re wondering what’s in the collection there’s the best-selling L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Lipstick, “redesigned” by Marant. There are 7 color riche timeless matte shades, each designed to suit every skin tone for every day of the week. There are two plum shades, two neutral lipstick shades, and three iconic Parisian reds that’ll transform you into a French fashionable girl.

Lip & Cheek Tint

There’s also a very handy 2-in-1 lip and check gloss in a universal sheer pink shade. It’s buildable so you can adapt it for a more personalised touch.

Brow Mascara

There’s also a high precision, transparent “Wanted mascara” designed to sharpen your brows, giving you an easy and effortless makeup look.

Eye shadow Palette

A smoky-eye palette consisted of 2 shades: iridescent emerald and matte black. Less is more right?

My personal favourite item in the collection is the Shine Skin Beautifier, an amazing pot of radiance that highlights, blurs and enhances the skin. It has a universal peach tone that warming up paler skin tones adding some glow, and popping against darker complexions. You can warm it up with your fingertips, and dab it onto the high points of your face to give your skin a dose of glow!

Speaking of this collab, I have to confess it’s a day to night makeup collection that you can wear anywhere. Be a cool French girl like no other!

The Korean Morning Skincare Routine: Every single step explained.

Koreans will always inspire us in terms of beauty tips. Ancient traditions perfectly combined with innovative technology makes us want the weird-but-wonderful tips and 10-step skincare steps right now. But where should we start from?

Most Korean women use an 8 and 10-step skincare routine each and every day to help keep their skin looking healthy and beautiful and that’s why they have the best skin in the world. It’s more than a routine, it’s a lifestyle that has become a global trend. It may a bit more expensive than what you are probably used to but I am here to break it down for you!

Below you’ll find the 8 and 10-step beauty rituals (and how to do it in 5 steps if you’re busy) and the ultimate tips for ageing well.

Step 1: Wash with water or a water-based cleanser

First thing in the morning, cleanse your skin either with water, or with a water-based cleanser. Hydration is the secret of flawless skin as water removes the few impurities that settle on the face during the night, and keeps skin hydrated.

Step 2: Toner

It’s important to apply toner, the ultimate prep product, in order to balance the skin’s pH levels. If you don’t, the skin can become dry and dehydrated. Toner also repair your skin’s barrier to effectively absorb the next products you apply.

Step 3: Essence

Essence is a hybrid between a toner and a serum and hydrates the complexion, aiding cellular turnover for a smooth, young-looking appearance. Think of your skin as a sponge absorbing everything more easily.

Step 4: Ampoule

Ampoules are the ultimate skin perfectors. They consist of a high number of active ingredients to target specific skin care concerns. They’re used occasionally as a booster when your skin badly needs extra support.

Step 5: Serum

Serums are formulated with active ingredients that target specific skin problems dark circles, like wrinkles, and dehydration. Their concentrated formulas contain a high amount of active ingredients.

Step 6: Eye cream

The skin around our eyes is the thinnest and most delicate area of the face as it’s super thin and there are no sebaceous glands to produce natural oils. Therefore, it’s important to keep this area well hydrated and protected.

Apply a light eye cream across both the brow and socket bone moving from the inner to outer corner of the eye to minimize the presence of dark circles, puffiness and crow’s feet at bay.

Step 7: Moisturiser

Apply a moisturiser in a light layer across the skin to plump up skin, smooth fine lines and provide long lasting all-day hydration.

Step 8: Sunscreen

One basic rule you should never ignore is protecting your skin against sun rays. Applying sunscreen shouldn’t be associated only with summer holidays. Protecting the skin on a daily basis from damaging UV rays will avoid the development of wrinkles, pigmentation, and fine lines as well as premature aging and skin cancer.

Here’s our guide on how to get the best deals this coming Black Friday and Cyber Monday:

The best way to avoid getting a bad deal is to do your research first. Research the items you want to buy and find out the cheapest price. You need to be knowledgeable about the product and its regular retail price. Many brands announce the deals in advance so look around for voucher codes on websites.

Make a list of items you want to purchase over Black Friday, read the reviews and make sure you know the difference between a good and bad version of that product.

Decide which stores you want to shop at this year, visit their website and sign up for email newsletters. It is quite important that you sign up for promotions at least two weeks before Black Friday. There is a possibility that the emails can take time before they start to generate, so you want to allow enough time to get added to the email marketing list.

Also, monitor brands on social media as they will drop hints (and prices) so keep any eye on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Best of 2018: Top 7 make-up setting sprays.

Have you realized that after doing your make up you see it creasing and fading a few hours later? So frustrating, right? There’s a simple solution for your makeup to look flawless, every time. All you need is a quick mist of one of the best setting spays, and you’re good to go!

I’ve reviewed 10 makeup setting sprays that promise to make your makeup last longer and literally keep it in place. Worth every penny don’t you think?

Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray

What can I say about this setting spray? First of all, it’s lightweight, easy to use and it keeps makeup looking fresh for long hours. It is made with temperature control technology and is also suitable for all skin types.

It is undoubtedly my favourite for so many reasons! It actually does what it really promises. It keeps your makeup in place for up to 12 hours. It gives my skin an important moisture boost, and it feels extremely comfortable to wear. It also adapts to any skin and it makes you look (and feel) refreshed. The most important feature of this product is its ability to prevent foundation from oxidizing and looking cakey. On top of that, it smells heavenly. This one’s 5/5!

e.l.f. Matte Magic Mist & Set

First of all, this vegan (and cruelty free!) setting spray is infused with ingredients that are so good for your skin (vitamins B, E and Arctium Majus Root). It’s lightweight, it hydrates and soothes the skin. It’s super comfortable to wear and just in case you are on the hunt for a budget-friendly, drugstore setting spray it’s so affordable that it costs less than $5!

It improves makeup’s wearability while preventing it from running or fading. It is suitable for all skin types, especially for oily skin, as it mattifies your skin and keeps your foundation in place. Well done e.l.f 5/5!

KIKO Milano Face Make Up Fixer

This setting spray by the Italian brand Kiko, is fragrance-free so it’s mild on the face as it’s a non-sticky formula. Moreover, it’s easy to apply, and it makes your skin look smoother. It holds your makeup in place for up to 8 hours and it work best when it’s combined with a high-quality primer. With a cosmetic alcohol formula, it evaporates quickly setting your makeup prettily. It comes in a spray can and it’s easy to carry in your everyday handbag. It’s amazing for normal to combination and oily skin. Its Chamomile extract formula makes it suitable for dry skin. One of its cons is that it can leave your skin uneven so I’d rate it 4/5.

Maybelline Superstay 24 Makeup-Locking Setting Spray

Superstay 24 Makeup-Locking Setting Spray by Maybelline is easy to use and dries quickly as it gets absorbed into my skin rapidly. It also has an oil-free formula but it does not feel sticky, it’s actually quite refreshing on my skin. It extends the longevity of makeup and keeps it in place as it leaves your makeup looking matte. However, one of its cons is that the company has not specified the skin type it is suitable for. It’s a budget-friendly drugstore option if you have extremely oily or a combination skin type. Not an ideal solution if you have dry skin though so it’s 4/5 for me.

MAC Prep & Prime Fix + Makeup Setting Spray

This setting spray is refreshing as it contains hydrating properties such as vitamins, minerals and a blend of chamomile, green tea and cucumber to soothe your skin. It gives a natural finish and refreshes your makeup. It soothes your skin and it’s non-acnegenic as it is dermatologically tested. A must have for a dry skin as it hydrates deeply but if you have oily skin, don’t even try this as it’s super expensive.

GlamGlow Glowsetter Makeup Setting Spray

If you need a setting spray that allows you to re-apply makeup that’s already settled and dries fast, this is a must-have for all skin types! It’s easy to use, enriched with antioxidants and gives you the glow you need. It’s multifunctional as it can be used as a makeup setting spray and a skin refresher during a busy day. It soothes the skin as it’s loaded with antioxidant green, white and red teas to fight any redness. Its most important feature is that it contains caffeine to refresh dull and puffy skin. One of its cons is that if you have sensitive skin, it can irritate it as it contains fragrance.

Bobbi Brown Face Mist

Bobbi Brown is a well-reputed makeup brand, so you can feel my excitement. It’s easy to use and it comes to a travel-friendly packaging. It leaves my skin well and deeply hydrated as it spritzes evenly and dries up quickly. In addition, this takes the double as a setting spray and as a face mist throughout the day. The sweet notes of lavender and geranium will make you feel refreshed and it’s also suitable for all skin types. It’s quite expensive and if you have a sensitive skin, I wouldn’t recommend it as its essential oils may cause irritation.

There are varieties of shades of lipstick, and you can match the color of your lips with the dress you are wearing. We have compiled the top lipstick brands which are recommended for youngsters:

MAC lipsticks are brilliant, and their bright colours won’t make your lips dry. They last for a long time, and you have plenty of shades to choose from. If you are looking for a high fashion, matte texture MAC lipstick is the product you need. The lipstick is highly pigmented and creamy. It is also very smooth, and you won’t even feel like you are wearing it. The lipstick has a very long staying power, and no matter how many wine sips you take, you will have your lipstick.

As the name suggests, the lipstick is long lasting and brings out the glossiness to your lips. The lipstick has ingredients such as vitamin E and sunflower seeds which make your lips smooth and soft.

Tom Ford Lip color:

Tom Ford provides you with a variety of luxurious lip colour. The lipstick is highly pigmented and so brings out a soft touch to your lips. There isn’t a Tom Ford shade which you won’t like, and the wild ginger happens to be the most popular one among many teens. The lipsticks would last up to a few hours and then it will need some retouching. The product is a little expensive, but it is truly worth your money.

Stila Stay:

The Stila Stay lipstick is so smooth, and it lasts for the entire day. It gives your lips a beautiful glossy look, and when it dries, it gives you a creamy matte look. It is extremely light, and you won’t feel like you are even wearing any lipstick. It has rich pigmentation, and it will stay up to 6 hours.
