Most Korean women use an 8 and 10-step skincare routine each and every day to help keep their skin looking healthy and beautiful and that’s why they have the best skin in the world. It’s more than a routine, it’s a lifestyle that has become a global trend. It may a bit more expensive than what you are probably used to but I am here to break it down for you!

Below you’ll find the 8 and 10-step beauty rituals (and how to do it in 5 steps if you’re busy) and the ultimate tips for ageing well.

Step 1: Wash with water or a water-based cleanser

First thing in the morning, cleanse your skin either with water, or with a water-based cleanser. Hydration is the secret of flawless skin as water removes the few impurities that settle on the face during the night, and keeps skin hydrated.

Step 2: Toner

It’s important to apply toner, the ultimate prep product, in order to balance the skin’s pH levels. If you don’t, the skin can become dry and dehydrated. Toner also repair your skin’s barrier to effectively absorb the next products you apply.

Step 3: Essence

Essence is a hybrid between a toner and a serum and hydrates the complexion, aiding cellular turnover for a smooth, young-looking appearance. Think of your skin as a sponge absorbing everything more easily.

Step 4: Ampoule

Ampoules are the ultimate skin perfectors. They consist of a high number of active ingredients to target specific skin care concerns. They’re used occasionally as a booster when your skin badly needs extra support.

Step 5: Serum

Serums are formulated with active ingredients that target specific skin problems dark circles, like wrinkles, and dehydration. Their concentrated formulas contain a high amount of active ingredients.

Step 6: Eye cream

The skin around our eyes is the thinnest and most delicate area of the face as it’s super thin and there are no sebaceous glands to produce natural oils. Therefore, it’s important to keep this area well hydrated and protected.

Apply a light eye cream across both the brow and socket bone moving from the inner to outer corner of the eye to minimize the presence of dark circles, puffiness and crow’s feet at bay.

Step 7: Moisturiser

Apply a moisturiser in a light layer across the skin to plump up skin, smooth fine lines and provide long lasting all-day hydration.

Step 8: Sunscreen

One basic rule you should never ignore is protecting your skin against sun rays. Applying sunscreen shouldn’t be associated only with summer holidays. Protecting the skin on a daily basis from damaging UV rays will avoid the development of wrinkles, pigmentation, and fine lines as well as premature aging and skin cancer.
